"George", Rat Terrier, Miniature oil painting

Meet George, a 13 year old good-looking Rat Terrier. This is a miniature oil, just 6" x 6" and is to be a birthday gift for the client's husband. I know he will be surprised!George is going to his new home tonight.

Ms, Copper Penny, French Bulldog - Oil on canvas, 16" x 20"

This is sweet little Copper Penny, a French Bulldog that my clients adopted. She is one of the sweetest, most charming little animals I've ever met! No wonder she ended up being a gift for her owner's birthday.

The unusual setting is based on the decor of the room she will reside in - the man cave! Barstools with zebra print, Axel Rose posters on the wall and an oversized Lava Lamp. So, I incorporated all of the elements into the portrait, even down to the silvery-gray rug. Penny sports a bright pink bone tag with rhinestones, and the client wanted pearls on her collar, so there you have it. I added the nail polish 'cuse pretty girls deserve to look *pretty* and we think she does! This was such a fun portrait to do and I am told her husband loves it!

Ben E. Fit, Black Labrador, 6" x 6" oil portrait

Here's Ben E. Fit! Ben is a great 11 years old and his striking form is highlighted with well-earned gray hairs. He was named because the owners got him at an ALS benefit, so a properly fitting name, I think. I love that story, don't you? He's a well-loved dog, I could just tell.

Seeley and Pip, 12" oil portraits

Meet Seeley, a handsome miniature Australian Shepherd with the most gorgeous brown eyes that just melt a person's heart! His housemate is Pip, a pert little black and tan long-haired Chihuahua. You can just see the 'imp' in her eyes! We've dubbed her 'Five Pounds of Trouble'. It was such a pleasure to paint these two lovely dogs for the gift-giver. (shhh, it's a secret til Christmas). They were picked up today and will go to their new home on December 25th~!

'Studio Dawg"

Please meet little Izzy, my studio dog. He was a Christmas gift from my young art students three years ago. He is the most wonderful companion and a blessing wrapped in black and tan with a touch of white! He's adorable and funny and sweet and makes every day better than the one before!

Erin and Stonewall 16 x 20 Oil portrait

I had the pleasure of delivering this portrait today of a truly beautiful lady and her recently departed and very beloved dog of 12 years, Stonewall. She's a charming woman with a wonderful eclectic side to her nature. I really enjoyed painting this, and had fun with the very real 'purple streaks' meandering through her dark brown hair. That dog has the most beguiling little smile and she showed me some photos of him smiling - what a riot! I hoped to capture the endearing closeness between her and her canine companion. I placed her hand over his heart because I know that's how she felt about her 'best friend'. She adored her Bichon Frise and misses him so much, so I hope this portrait brings some wonderful memories to her and lots of pleasure. Thanks, Erin!

This lovely girl is a beautiful Airedale with a bit of a playful, tomboy streak. Her name is Otter and I suspect she can be found pretty close to any nearby body of water most of the time!

Meet Mr. Evans, a standard 'Rough Collie', the type most folks here in America associate with the television series, "Lassie", which was actually a series of dogs, not just one as is often thought. Of course, there are many more types of Collies than just the 'Rough' variety. They have a gorgeous coat.

Little Giselle - an elegant toy Spaniel called a Papillon. The Papillon (French for "butterfly") is a small, friendly, elegant breed of dog of the Spaniel type, distinguished from other breeds by its large butterfly-like ears.The Papillon is one of the oldest of the toy Spaniels.

Papillons are known for their very large, butterfly-like ears with long, fine hair that gives them this feathery-eared look.
